3DMR16 Mod

I basically took a 3D Maglite and wanted to put in an MR-16. I had to cut the  lamp assembly away from the switch and solder wires onto the positive and negative ends of the switch. These ends were soldered to an MR-16 socket. Nothing is securing the socket, but the MR-16 is stable because it fits exactly in the head of the Maglite. This is a pretty inexpensive mod that yields great brightness. Why look for a reflector? This ones got a great faceted reflector built in!

This is a beam shot up a wall. Right side of the screen is up the wall in our comm room. It doesn't really mean much, but it was bright. The far right of the screen is about 6 feet up the wall.
This is a shot of our Meridian from about 18 feet away.
The lamp and socket.
The homemade 123 holder.
Just drop it all in.
Much prettier reflector than the one in the Maglite.
The final product. Hmm... Looks just like a 3D Maglite!
