| 2DX123 Mod Okay. This one is a 2D
Maglite mod that started off with the goal of fitting a Carley 1909 or 1940
reflector into the head. The reflector fit in the head, but was too wide for
the Mag lamp assembly. My friend used his drill press to open up the ream to
3/4" which is the exact diameter needed. This allows the lamp assembly to
fit into the reflector, but now the filament was way past the focal point. I
needed spacers. I was able to find 3/4" ID and 1 1/4" OD machine bushings
that fit perfectly around the lamp assembly and inside the barrel. 7 of the
14 gauge variety and the lamp is now focused.
Parts: 2D Maglite, Carley 1940 reflector, Carley Xenon Star 716, 3
Surefire 123s, Elektrolumens 2D to 123 adapter, flashlightlens.com UCL, and
7 14 gauge machine bushings from City Mill.

The centerpiece(s) of this mod: modified Carley 1940 and 7 machine
bushings that brought everything into focus. |

 Beam
at about 15 feet. When focused this reflector gives a very nice tight
spot! Thanks Carley! |
